    Question How this site is ranking for many un related kw's

    I was wondering how google (google.co.uk ) could show the site
    https://www.secure-server-hosting.com

    for many keywords like

    debt consolidation ,
    secured loan,
    personal loan etc

    The site by its name is obviously a hosting company.
    The site doesn't seem to be having too many backlinks and the only thing I could tell is that the site uses SSL.

    If you people find anything interesting, do share with me.

    I would start by looking at their style.css

    Especially this part ...
    h1 {
    display: none;
    visibility: hidden;
    font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    font-size: 8px;

    Then file a spam report at http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html

    [EDIT]
    After digging a little deeper ... this is a shared SSL (secured) server for many websites to accept payments, donations, and other private transactions. This page is linked from the client's sites NOT the hosting company site.

    In fact a search for their FORM SERVER shows:
    Results 1 - 10 of about 592 from www.secure-server-hosting.com for secutran

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Awww.secure-server-hosting.com+secutran

    But they are still SPAMMERS

    Also a site http://www.tigertom.com/ ,

    They do a different thing.
    For the crawlers, they serve a page which has a meta robots tag with noarchive . Also they are hiding google adsense from crawlers.

    This site is also ranking very high. Do this also will be considered as spam? If not doing this is helping them in ranking?
    ( I was analysisng some black hat techniques, thats how I noticed these.)

    seolion,
    You need to do a little more homework regardng this one. Yahoo shows that it has well over 3 million backlinks from other domains:

    Results 1 - 10 of about 3,350,000 for linksite:secure-server-hosting.com -site:secure-server-hosting.com

    It probably ranks well for A LOT of terms.

    Thanks brandall for the info. In fact I didn't check the backlinks in yahoo. I trusted MSN on no of backlinks, which is showing 700 odd links.

    http://www.ihelpyouservices.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=21045&perpage=20&pagenumbe r=1 this has more on this...

    But regarding Tigertom, do you feel it is spamming or he is doing it right?

    I don't see anything wrong with this site?

    NOARCHIVE simply tells Google not to cache this page ... so if the site is down the pages cannot be served from Google's servers.

    Also this site is not hiding google adsense ads ... just REMOVED them without cleaning up the code. There really is no advantage to hiding ads ... javascript code is not indexed or followed.

    Hi rtchar,

    They are in fact hiding google adsense. I accessed their page like a crawler, using a script written by me. Thats how I came to know that they are serving noarchive to robots (only to robots and not to the users) and also hiding adsense from crawlers.

    Serving the page differently to the crawlers should be treated as spam right?

    IMO tigertorm is Clean site and it is not having any kind of spam .. as far google ads are concerned , may be the webmaster had deleted googleadds from the graphical view and not cleared up the tag .
    when you run your own spider , it will definately consilder this as hidden text but it is by mistake !

    secure server hosting ...:lot of time discussed !!!!!

    if you are in finance domain , you must have seen lot of sites like this ex: onlypunjab.com/ xxxxxxx.html for some of the good kw's in loan

    Thanks SeoUK,

    I do agree that I didn't find any css spam / hidden text in tigertom. But showing noarchive to robots and not showing to users is okay or not?

    It is honest to block caching of websites by Google ... maybe a bit paranoid ... but honest.

    For more background on this issue see this article

    Hi rtchar,

    Still my doubts are uncleared. Tigertom is serving noarchive to robots and not to users. Serving something which users dont see should be against google TOS right? Also is tigertom benefitted in ranking by doing noarchive?

    NOARCHIVE is a robot instruction --- the equivalent user instruction is to tell the browser to refresh each time the website is accessed.

    There is NO benefit in ranking by telling search engines not to CACHE your site.
