Question How often Should I Submit My RSS Feed?

I recently started using RSS Announce to submit my rss feeds, but was curious how often do I need to do this? I've noticed quite a spike in my traffic since I first submitted, but I'm wondering when if at all I need to do this again?

I don't want to get penalized. Anyone have some advice? Is there a better alternative. I was skeptical before I tried this program, but I cannot deny that it is helping my traffic.

I've only used it once, but it made a difference. Will I be punished for overuse? This is a blog...There are changes every day.

Then -once again- why not start with hitting RSSA every time the feed is updated?

<side noet> Also, I've been told that hitting it too often could make you go blind ( )

Seriously: no one knows if your specific site can get away with multiple announcements without people or bots a-frownin'. I am sure there is NO fixed number of updates a day that will or will not trigger a penalty of any kind.

I guess it boils down to common sense, and I hope you have plenty of it

Generally aggregators will check for updates to your site on a scheduled basis ... with others it is up to you to notify them when you have made changes.

Some software will ping (notify) aggregators immediately when changes are saved.

Otherwise consider using automatic notification with a service like FeedBurner PingShot ...

Thumbs up Thanks Fellas

Thanks for the tips guys. This is the first time I've done any work with submitting my RSS feeds and just wanted to make sure I wasn't breaking some sort of SE rule. I just installed the feedburner plugin to my site so I'll just sit back now and watch it work. Thanks again.
