How Many Relevant Backlinks per Day Before You're Trouble?

    Helloes,

So at the moment, I'm using my professional journalism experience as a bit of leverage to write guest blog posts on *very relevant* websites in exchange for backlinks. I've also been doing directories such as Pegasus at the rate of around 5 per week max, usually less. I've been using PR3-5 directories which are established and have standards for their company listings.

How many of these types of backlinks is too many? Will I get in trouble for link spamming or is that only for when people use those 'buy 1000 backlinks' deals?

    Thanks

    Seed Tree

5 links a week from quality, relevant blogs will keep you far under the radar. Sleep well.

Great strategy. The only thing I'll suggest here is for you to keep the best content on your site.
Also you may try a site like http://myblogguest.com/ for your approach.

Directories don't do a heck of a lot but are still useful and worth the effort. Though you may find services cheap enough that will make it a lot more effective.

Women can't have enough shoos and webmasters can never have enough links! No such thing as; too many links.
or is that only for when people use those 'buy 1000 backlinks' deals?
Yes, and everything else that promises to do things in 1 day that should take a minimum of 3 months to do.

    Good luck,

You probably won't get dinged if you do this ONE time. However, if you do this every day, it will definitely raise alarm bells.

Stick to quality links over quantity and you will be fine.

as long as you are providing helpful and relevant information, there is no limit really. Of course no one expects you to create over 1000 contextual links a month. but if directories at what you are referring to, you can submit as many as you like as long as the info is helpful to the readers vs to submissions only built for link building purposes only.

You may want to monitor all these 1000 back links to be built for your website by a 3rd party provider to make sure that you are using them for your advantage. With Google Pnda, links from blog
Comments are devaluated already so you might want to check the positioning of links going to your website. Be mindful with type of link, they are going to build ( forum, social bookmarks, article marketing, directory or blog comments)

Thank you all of the replies, reeeally appreciated. Just in case anyone else sends a reply (please do, as many opinions as possible), as per the OP, I don't use the 1000 backlinks deals, so I'm wondering how many directory/relevant website backlinks I'm allowed per day.

    Thanks.

It is good you are picking up quality directories to submit your content/website. However when you get approval from such directories your listing page will have PR 0 and approval rate is also not prefixed. and that's the reason directories are less effective.
