Question How to get extra navigation links to display in SERP?

If you search for cars on Google.com you see some extra navigation links under the listing for "cars.com":

    "Sell Your Car Online | List & ... - siy.cars.com/
    Selling a Vehicle | Advertise ... - siy.cars.com/siy/qsg/sellingBenefits....
Edit or Renew an Ad - ads.cars.com/siy/editSignIn.jsp
    Become a Cars.com Dealer - dealers.cars.com/
    More results from cars.com "

These kind of "extra links" usually only appear for the #1 result - but they don't appear for the #1 result for all keywords.

Do you know how you should construct your website to get Google to display these kind of extra links for your site?

Must be an authority thing - in the sense that the #1 for a reasonably competitive keyword will get this special treatment. AFAIK, there is nothing you can do "on-page" to trigger this phenomenon.

Are you on the #1 spot for a nice keyword or keyphrase, Hannes?

It's not really an on-page optimisation factor, aside from making sure that you have a search engine friendly navigation that reflects the hierarchy of the site.

Selecting pages to appear as sitelinks is a completely automated process. Our algorithms parse the structure and content of websites and identify pages that provide fast navigation and relevant information for the user's query. Since our algorithms consider several factors to generate sitelinks, not all websites have them.

Ultimately it boils down to age, links, and authority

Thank you JagNet. I think this pretty much sums it up...

I've seen this both for competitive keywords but also just the name of the company. But when you Google the name of the company I'm optimizing for it doesn't have these sitelinks (although it's #1). Must be an age thing...

If you want to generate sitelink on your website. For sitelink there is a so many factors affecting.

First of all that your domain is being old and registered for long period

Second that your website has a unique content and useful information

Third that your website is update on daily bases.

Fourth that your backlinks comes from trusted website like .edu and .org domain.

Fifth your website has different anchor text link for Home Page.

These factors are considering by Google for generating sitelink
