Or you could do it the hard way and pain-stakingly manually search through Google yourself...

actually some tools are not accurate... i still prefer manual search of my rankings... and then create a report... beside you can set SEs preferences up to 100 results..

PRESS CTRL+F and then type your site to find... mouse over the cache link to know your site position = appear on status bar..

You could try www.googlerankings.com, http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/ or http://www.mcdar.net/dance/index.php - view the results on various datacenters.

I do it manually, though it was time consuming

The efford you put into checking the rankings I put in linkbuilding and decent content because than I see my result on the first page and dont have to search for it.

Please if you cant find yourself on the first 3-5 pages it is unimportant where you are.

If you have an oler website and well optimized yes, but if you have a new website, it's not easy to follow all the pages of results, or let's say 30-40 pages.

As I told you, maybe this is a new website and need to work on it to have it listed there. Until then, all you can do is follow its evolution.
Also, what if you are a SEO and have 10-20 websites you need to follow their ranking for the most important keywords. You do this manually? I don't think so. There are a lot of other thinks to do, as you said linkbuilding.

Do you sit in front of the program than and look every day if your site made a jump from result page 94 to 89? Thats useless.
If you cant find your site how should somebody else find it?
Work on getting to the top, not how to best search in the depth of Googles search results.

Try webCEO it is quiet good but inaccurate after page 5 (as the manual result as well), so you have to get to the top first.
