About like asking "is breathing good or bad for the environment?"

First you need to ask the writer their motive for writing and then giving what they wrote away. Then you need to ask Search Engine Land what they get out of it. Then you need to confirm with Google whether those positions align with their ideals surrounding reviews.

You guest post to acquire traffic, not to rank better.

Spectulating beyond getting traffic is foolsgold.

When you link out you give away some SEO juice although for an specific search terms it might not be affected.

If you donīt want to give away SEO juice use nofollow links.

You can link internaly to spread SEO juice among a few pages on your site. If you want to concentrate all the keywords in one page then it will not be good idea to link internaly

You need to be careful how you word 'advice'.

You certainly didn't pass it on to the "link to" website... but you also didn't keep it for yourself.

You still pass the link juice... "it is passed into oblivion".

It is true that SEO juice is a tricky business. We will never know for sure how does it work althought we know that we need sites linking to us.

If I have to link out what different does it make that I used dofollow or nofollow?

    - Do follow pass the juice to the other site
    - No follow pass the juice to the oblivion as fathom pointed out

In both cases do I loose the same? I donīt think so but I donīt know for sure, my personal experience tell me

    - If I can avoid link out I do
    - If I link out I try to use nofollow
    - If I link out to top domains like google, amazon, etc. I donīt bother to use nofollow

I do this because most sites seems to follow this pattern. If someone show me or prove something different like link out help on SERP then I might change my rules. Fathom in many occasion has done so
