How can I completely remove a search result from a Google search?

There are several links that I wanted removed from a specific Google search.
I first contacted the webmasters of the specific pages and they removed the content related to the search phrase (it was a company name).
I then used Google 'Webpage removal request tool' and Google said that they were approved and 'removed'. Google did remove the link description but the actual links and url still appears on the search result for the company.

Why is this? Is there any way to remove the actual links from the search results completely?

    hello...

When we crawl the web, we automatically find new pages, remove outdated links, and reflect updates to existing pages, keeping the Google index fresh and as up-to-date as possible.
