That depends.
Do you mean hits or unique visitors?
How old is your siye?
What industry are you in?
What is your PR?
What backlink activity have you been doing? If the answere is none then 3000 is a lot, if you hav been working for years link building and optimizing the site then it is poor!
Sorry to be vague but it really depends on all these..
As for finding out where you are on google, do a search!

Stats program

based on your info (unique, domain age etc). that traffic level is great.

You should use some sort of stats program to determine what those visitors are doing.

Length of stay
Pages visited
Arrived from
Keywords

Even the free statcounter.com program could help you.
