Just found out one of my sites has gone from number 1 for about 30 keywords is now in position 61 for my major keyword

Didn't bother checking the others

Funny thing is I haven't ever really dome any link building on that site excepft for a handful of ezinearticles

I am really p....d off

No bought links, no blog commenting, just ezine and on page SEO

What gives???

-60, -80, -100 doesn't matter. Your links are being devalued. Shore them up with "quality links" not necessary a large quantity of links (which so many people tend to focus on) and you can recover those rankings and more in a relatively short period of time.

To keep good site ranking you will have to continue building quality back links, you cannot just dump a whole bunch for a while and then stop. This is looked down on by search engines.

You will find it less frustrating if you work with a source/company that provides you with high quality links. I read all of the jibber - jabber from Newbies and such about their rankings getting a quote "50 spot penalty" and that frustrates me too because there is no such thing. I stated in a post last week, you either have high quality links or you don't. If you don't, you will always see fluctuations like you are experiencing and will seldom, if ever be able to capture a highly desired search term.

If you get high quality stable links you will seldom see your site go down except a spot or two and as you add additional new links you will see exponential jumps (in most cases) instead of numerical jumps until you hit the top ten, then the climbs can be more numerical as links are added. It all depends on the niche and the competition.

It's funny. The site has been in the number one spots for over a year now
