Easy... 1. Have better and more focused content than any of your competitors; and, 2. Always have just a few more relevant high ranking well trusted bl's (using just the perfect link text) than your closest competitor. Do 1 & 2 and MAYBE you will be #1.

Egol... The Art of War is still one of the core books in U.S. military acadamies. Also, maybe more importantly, it is one of the core books in the most prestigious MBA programs. I keep a copy in my library and refer to it periodically as a refresher.
This MIT.edu site lists most of the tenets of his book: The Art of War. You can readily see how easy it fits the business environment because... "Business is war". It does not, hopefully, contain violence, but one side is always trying to defeat the other through the use of superior strategies. War strategies directly relate to business strategy.
