HELP! 10 brand websites to 1 main umbrella ella ella

Hi

I work for a company that runs mutiple 'brand' sites, including:

MASTER BRAND A SITE .com - 15,000 visits a month
Brand A .us - 1000 visits a month
Europe Brands A and B .com - 4000 visits a month
Brand C .com - 4000 visits a month
Brand D .com - 3000 visits a month
Brand E .com - 500 visits a month

I joined 6 month ago and think they are rubbish... most having a page rank of 4 and hardly any links or dynamic content.

I want to merge them into 1 main site, with sub pages acting as the Brand sites. I'm thinking Unilever style .com and then smaller Persil and Cif brand sites, using BrandA.com/??? and promoting their actual URLs that just forward to this page.

Will this be good or bad in Google's eyes?

I know I'll need to boost links (social media) but just wanted to make sure my plan wasn't CRAZY!!!!
