Smile Hello everyone! Help needed for SEO novice.

Hi people!

I own a website – comparebookies dotcom that in it’s current format is basically a banner farm with a few reviews, betting guides, etc. I am not that happy with the design of the site but it has only been online since May this year.

The course for the future (probably the next 2-3 months) is to make it into an odds comparison website in the same format of bestbettingdotcom. With the relevance of the domain name to this market/service I think that this is a no brainer. My site will be designed by the same people who are behind the likes of best betting, bookiesdotcom, etc and they will deal with all the on site SEO.

With me being am SEO novice, what would you suggest the best course of action would be in growing the traffic to the site? I realise backlinks are very important but I don’t know what types of blogs, directories, etc to hit as the content of the site is going to change in the near future. Can you advise what types of sites to hit under these circumstances?

Also, I am keen to get a web-marketer on board but cost is an issue. Can you please tell me of the types of services that would add the most value to my site?

Thanks very much!

Search for relevant forums, blogs and bookmarks. Do a search on Google for casino forums, casino blogs etc. Also search for social bookmarking sites, there are thousands, I also find Simpy a good starting point. Also put into top directories, starting with Yahoo. Post articles to article syndication sites with links in the content back to your site...

Thanks for the replies!

For some reason the site is nowhere to be found in Google but is quite prevalent on Yahoo. I am aware of how important page relevance is to Google but what determines a page relevant? Does a few key words on the page make it so or is there more to it than that?

Considering the site is going to be a bookmaker odds comparison website - can anyone give me some examples of blogs/forums I should comment on or directories i should submit to? Any other tips would be appreciated too!

Also, how can you find out if a blog/forum is do-follow?

Thanks.
