Cool Growth rates for a new SEO/designer

Hey everyone! So, I am a frequenter of this forum and have learned a ton of new information and have put it to use since I began my endeavors as an SEO and web designer. I want to thank everyone out there for their contributions to the forum.

    Now for my question...

I am reviewing my Jan-Apr traffic for my non-profit site and see a 25% increase in unique traffic between this year and last year and a 28% increase in return traffic. I know the growth is good but is 25% and 28% a decent amount of growth or should I expect more? I was brought into the roll in November last year so the Jan-Apr result for 2012 were from work that was done by the individual that was in this position before me.

Most of the growth is probably just a result of the site aging. These days google seems to give less and less of a **** about all the little optimization tricks you can pull in relation to the other stuff they use to determine rankings.

What kind of optimization tricks are you referring to? I'm not saying I disagree I'm just interested in your take on this topic.

Generally what secretagentdad is saying is that the improvement could be nothing to do with you. It could be down to:
    - the site aging
    - a competitor getting penalised and loosing their rankings
    - a reduction in PPC competition
    - etc.

If you have been tweaking titles and that sort of thing it may have helped or it may not.

Best to just make a nice powerpoint presentation for your boss and get the credit anyway.

Is 25/28% good? What did the organisation want?
