Martin... It is obvious, at least to me, that some of our members are joking with you.

For now, Google is still likely the best search engine. However, Bing appears to be really getting their act together in search. If Google does not correct or compensate for recent missteps, Bing may become a really serious competitor over the next year. Time will tell.

One or two years ago, I expected Bing to go ahead and take a decent share. Turns out that they failed. Check your logs and see for yourself.

So - IMHO - this is a moot point.

Primarily work on getting a good ranking with Google. It has the lion's share of searchs. Unless you are located in Russia or China, then concentrate on Yandex and Baidu. By working on a good ranking with Google you will find (provided you follow good SEO practices) you will start getting better rankings on Bing, (remember Yahoo uses Bing Tech) and Yahoo.

    So..... concentrate on the following
    Page Title
    Page Description
Page keywords (not important with Google, Bing and Yahoo, but somewhat important to the other engines.
    Page Content
Alt Text for all images (for text readers)
If you use flash, use it sparingly, the engines haven't quite got it down yet, so text is still king.
Get backlinks and don't go overboard getting massive amounts of backlinks, remember the google slap it's still out there to bite you.

    Remember this.....
Google likes the <strong> tags vs <b> tags
Bing pays more attention to directroy structure than Google
Bing likes <b> tags vs <strong> tags.
(if you're smart and use asp-aspx or php you can customize each page to use the proper tags on the fly.)

Remember to use h1 tags for major headings but don't go overboard. Also use h2 thru h6 tags for sub-headings.

Use bold text for your keywords and secondary keywords ( depending on which engine use <strong> or <b> for bolding your text.

As of late Google has started paying attention to italics text. Using a little will make a differenct.

True as does Yahoo from Bing. This means that there are only two major search engines: Google and Bing.
