Google webmasters tool on tilt?
Am I the only one who is seeing strange things in the Google webmasters tool at the moment?
For one of my sites I now have a very large amount of backlinks according to the webmasterstool. More than 250.000 and many of them from the same domains. For example eu.com although I don't have any links on eu.com.
In total I see hundreds of backlinks from hundreds of domains but I don't know these domains and I cannot find a link on those sites to my website.
Strangely enough these sites are all related to my site as the are about the same subject but I sure don't have links on these sites!
I have not run any (PPC) advertising campaigns for this site.
Is this some kind of google bug and do more webmasters have the same problem?

When Google lists the sites on the first page, they are listing the home page URL, which is likely not where your link is placed. Did you click on the site URL to get the URL of the page within the site where the link to your site is actually placed? You may also have to go to the source code and search for your site name.
I was so excited to see that I had links on BBC.co.uk and AARP.org only to find out I was actually on one of their internal pages and was not getting quite as much juice as I was hoping.

The story gets even more weird. For one url I have a total of 2.640.250 backlinks according to the google webmasterscentral.
This url is from my website but it is nothing more than a 301 redirect to another site which I am an affiliate for. It redirects to the merchants website
I use Joomla and in Joomla the weblinks component creates 301 redirects to an external page. Nothing wrong with that but I thought Google didn't indexed that kind of 301 redirects.
The question still remains how it could be possible that I have 2.640.250 backlinks for this 301 url.
It seems google makes the mistake of thinking that my 301 url and the merchants homepage are the same. (or something like that???)
Something is clearly going on. I have different domains that I can check with totally different Google logins and they are all showing the same thing -- no backlinks and no internal links.

Sorry but I think that this has nothing to do wtih the above problem
