Google Updates 2010 (will it effect on SEO strategies)
Dont you guys think by adding place pages with organic results, there would be eefect on traffic to the website..as it might possible that they can click on place page instead of website page..
What can be other effects on SEO with Google places updates..
In Google we used to have 10 results, why we are having more then 10 results on 1st page..?Is it some update..can i get the link for this
If its a new update then ORM would be in trouble..it would be diffuclt to off the results to 2nd page..Gosh

By google combining the places and organic listings in MY opinion is something that will filter out a lot of crap directories and give the local people a chance as google will now give weight to people who have google places !
Its difficult to say how much of an impact it will have, as its not totally rolled out where i am in the UK, only some areas have it, but if your not cheating you dont have anything to worry about, if your business is in an area , and you want to rank for it , theres no worries.
If your based somewhere else and want to rank well for an area and you dont have a google places in that area you may stumble upon some issues !
But that said its all guesswork, until we see how its kicking in properly we wont know !

Heh. Look at the date of this post, I don't think there has much huge changes in 2010, besides Google Instant, which really hasn't affect our SEO much anyways...

Although its possible they could click on your place page first, I think its unlikely as you listing position is in a more prominent place on the left hand side and people are more used to clicking this side of the page.
Also before this change if your company was on the maps and someone clicked your listing they would be automatically taken to your place page but now they go straight to your homepage ! so if anything it will increase visits to your website if you are on the maps !
