I thought that OR it could be that the term PPC is falling out of favour in favour of something like "adWords". The constant growth in SEO would hint that people are going natural though and I suspect it's a DIY thing too. It was interesting that the entire globe showed basically the same graph.

There is definitely more interest in SEO now than there was a year ago, I am finding more and more people asking me to consult for them, and I don't even usually do any consulting (working on my own sites) commercially.. I do work on interesting or friends sites to keep me fresh and when it's on my terms.. but now I am turning away offers reguarly.
Its definitely becoming more and more of a mainstream concept, and a lot more marketing cash is going into it.

It's a good point. I feel that SEO has more chances to win in the future!

Boooooooooooooooo that rains on my parade doesn't it. ;)
I'd assume there will be a similar number of other acronyms for PPC too though. Just thought it was worth a quick article seeing as the trend was so global.

Great post by EGOL. I've heard that Seo's a common Japanese name too, so I wouldn't bet a dime on those numbers.
Realistically, I think PPC has got much bigger reach than SEO. To a lot of people, SEO = work, and that's their biggest turnoff. Others just haven't heard of it.

A bit harsh surely! if you read my orignal article the trend is reflected in several individual countries...can't see too many baseball searches in the UK or Australia...plus it's a definite upward trend for SEO and a downward one for PPC. Can't imagine why Google searches for Japanese names would suddenly be increasing.
I know SEO was traditionally seen as a ball-ache whereas PPC was a quick win but people are coming to realise that the rewards are more long-term (and therefore ultimately more cost-effective) with SEO.
