Google synonymous title tags instead of explicit keyword use.

Okay so I spent years perfecting SEO and I guess it was either part of penguin or panda (I think Penguin) where they decided they would no longer let me write my title tag to say the main keyword I was going for and actually rank on it. Anybody else notice this? Title says "New cars with blue paint" it ends up only ranking it for things like "Pristine vehicles with cyan coloring" or something like that?

Am I getting this right? I can't just go for what I want now? Then how does this guessing game work with keywords? I can't seem to rank for lay down niches with no competition, something is definitely up. This spans multiple sites, what happened to make it so impossible to rank?

Sorry I am frustrated and if this is in your stickies somewhere at the top then I do apologize but for lack of time I had to get some direct answers. Thank you very much in advance.

It's pulling your title from somewhere...find out where and go forward from there.

Add main keywords in title and h1. Related keywords is to be included in sub headings. Write the content with a reasonable number of those keywords and add synonyms too if possible in context.
