Google SERPs look different

I'm checking the SERPs for several keywords and there are a few things I'm observing:

1. There seem to be way more pages indexed than there were yesterday. For example, for a keyword I'm watching, a search returns 145,000,000 results, while if I remember well, yesterday it was showing ~ 32,000,000. For others it jumped from: ~ 9,000,000 to 27,200,000, from ~2,000,000 to 5,840,000, from ~7,000,000 to 13,700,000.

2. There are also major differences in the some SERPs in terms of spots holded by the competiting sites. There are minor jumps to ( 1-5 positions ), but I'm also seeing jumps of 50+ positions ( and not just for one site but for several ). Also, a site I have neglected for quite a long time was fluctuating between 20-30 and now it's down a lot ( most backlinks of this site are reciprocals, related but still reciprocals ). At a glance I'd say Google has played again with the algo and the way it weights the links.

I'm looking for all your posts with observations and details .

I realized your observation 1. some time ago. For several keywords the number of results doubled (from 35,000,000 to 70,000,000) but within 2 searches in the same hour. If I do this search now there is no difference.

I realized that #1-3 stay almost always the same. Between 4 and 10 you can jump fast but fall as well but hardly out of the top10.

I got a site lost 6 pages in position for it's main KW, since yesterday....

Recips are under 2% Content added daily and has been climbing 1-3 listing positions a day for 3 weeks...Now tanked.

UGH

Google has been doing a lot of activity these days especially with the algo and stuff.

I got dropped for my top keyword for about 20-30 places and i have had similar reportings from other people.

What i feel maybe google is devaluing links or is in a process of some kind of link evaluation.....but whatever they have done really sucks.I am seeing crappy sites make it to the top.

Hope they get it fixed soon.

(ps:are they devaluing the internet....i wonder )

Looks like the site which got burried yesterday is back at its previous place. This makes me think that although Google is definitely playing a bit with the way it considers links, if the reciprocal links are extremely themed and relevant they still help, they don't seem to be given less value ( probably they have less value than a clean 100% one-way link, but I'd say they're somewhere close to that ).
