Google SEO / Search Engine Certification
Can anyone recommend a certification program for SEO. The company's goal is to get the certification emblem. I wouldn't mind the extra dose of training. Any suggestions?
I've found several, but I really want to get something out of it on top of the emblem for the website. Please recommend. |

Probably the most well known is Bruce Clay's course: http://www.seotoolset.com/training/courses.html Of course the certification comes from the company providing the training not a third party. That is they way it is right now.

You can get the Google AdWords Professional Certification as well for the PPC side of things.

There is also the WEB CEO course although when I took it I pointed out an error / ambiguity to them and they corrected it.
The trouble with any organic SEO based course or certification is that once it comes to distribution it is probably inaccurate. I think SEO is one of the few areas where you can't take a course and industry knowledge / and eagerness to learn are worth almost as much as technical ability.

If he's small enough why pump Bruce Clay when you can pump yourself? Go with Europa, or me, or freak, many prominent members here. Assuming you're serious that is. |

He wants a certification that can be put on the company website. I haven't designed an SEO certification logo YET. I don't aspire to be a Bruce Clay kind of trainer anyway. For every four people who say they are going to attend a seminar three drop out. Way too much work and stress for me. Some people think that I'm certifiable! Does that count DJ?!? YOu bring up a good point, he made a logo and VOILA! A Certification! The only SEo certification these days is a degree in business something or other.... Theres' nothing. I believe SEO_AM created one 6 months back, maybe he'll let us all use it and give it out |

http://www.bruceclay.com/web_ethics.htm He also has created his own SEO code of ethics. DJ I'm just not up for that. I thought a 100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back was good. If I need to create my own world like Dune or something...I just don't have any Frank Herbert in me. Yeah...how about it SEO_AM? Bruce Clay has a nice one he gives you to put on your site. See it even comes with a Gold Embossed JPG! Can DJ and I use yours? Hey....JiNxXx the form at my site works (LOL) and I can steal a yellow sticker from some website. Oh darn....I'm violating the SEO code of ethics! Last edited by europa : July 10th, 2007 at 10:08 AM. |

Google has made us 'white' hat by penalising websites that go against its TOS. SEO ethics to me is about longevity. I simply cannot be bothered to put in enough work to get to top of SE and than just get my site banned and have to start again. As for certification to me (I am principal of a school) it serves a few purposes. 1) A recognized qualifaction from a trusted institution will make employment in an area possible/more likely. ie a degree or padi dive card 2) A certificate for completing something that you valued can be rewarding. ie a certidficate for completing a massage course. 3) A certificate that can be used for marketing. This is the most questionable one for me. It implies that the person who is considering using your company knows that 'certificate' is of value. ie A certificate that you have won a tourism award for outstanding service. I do not think that a certification from a non recognised body serves any purpose other than 2. Having said that If anyone has a decent online seo course that I can on sell through my school I would be happy to talk about promoting it. i get asked often to do/teach seo but am not interested and to busy (on top of that my technical skills are quite limited). To OP you could just 'make up' a logo, charge your company $10,000 to attend your own course...lol... Now would that be in breach of BC ethics...... ![]()

I wish there was a certification program at SEOchat to provide certificates to the Top 5 Posters or the Mods
SEOchat is now an absolute authority in SEO Sites and Forums and a certification from it will surely mean a lot. What do you say friends...is it worth it or not ???
