Google s*ite maps.
CAn someone offer me a bit of advice here please. I have created an xml sitemap using an online tool. Ive uploaded it to my server and (I think) I have told google where it lives. Ive been looking on the google site and it says if you verify site ownership they will give you some stats on your site and report any problems. The trouble is it doesnt appear to explain anywhere how to verify the site.
Can someone tell me how to verify and is it worthwhile doing so ?

give it chance to verify it then.... google works at its own pace, i once waited a couple of days.... By the way a google site map is a must (my opinion of course), so even if you dont like it, id recomend you stick with it... its very useful
Enter the URL off the site map - http://www.mywebsite.com/sitemap.xml
Then select My Sites link at the top.
Click on Verify
Chose upload HTML file
upload a blank html file called (something like this)
google708a1800c0da5f4d.html to your root directory (which veryifies ownership. The file just needs to be called that, leave it blank.
