Google result for company name search
When you search for Amazon in Google (or other big companies) you get an attractive entry with important links, etc.
How do I get my company result to look similar? |

These are called sitelinks, where Google determines (through its algorithms) what inner pages on your site will be of relevance to the person searching.
To get these your site needs to age (minimum 12 to 18 months from what I've seen), have a good number of back links to both the homepage and inner pages, and have a well thought out and crawlable navigational structure that makes it obvious to Google what the key inner pages are. Once Google has generated the sitelinks (you can see from your Google Webmaster Tools account whether or not it has), there's still no guarantee that they'll show for any search terms. For that you'd need to hold a strong #1 position for the search term, significantly ahead of the site in the #2 slot.

Thanks for this - I was hoping it would be easy.
The site has been running for around 12 months, I can see that no sitelinks have yet been generated via the web tools. Our entry does come first as it's our Company Name. Making sure the site is easily navigatable by Google is no doubt a big topic. Our structure is pretty standard main menu across the top, sub menu down the side. I think Google should be a little less smoke and mirrors about this. If people are directly searching for our company name (I can understand this for generic searches), we should be able to give Google hints about the best way to display our company and not have to wait over a year or more to do so. This would surely be in the user's interests? |

How does Google know that your site is the official site of your company eh? It doesn't... Secondly sitelinks are awarded to sites that are the best resource on the web for a particular search term, so sites have sitelinks for some terms and not for others. Ultimately if someone does a search for your company name they will click your link and visit your site regardless of sitelinks, work on making your site easily navigable for people that do want to visit you.. at least that is something you can affect!

This may be what Google has in its mind. One of my website has all the 8 sitelinks for a highly competitive and high search volume keyword on all the country specific versions of Google but it is not the best resource on the web for that keyword.Trust me on that. Quote:
You get sitelinks for those keywords which have high search volume and for which you have maintained the number one position for a very long time (1 year or more). |

This is not a guarantee that the site is owned by the company or is official. Quote:
Yes I agree, it's subjective, but your site will be one of the better sites out there, or you have used some underhand measures.. one or the other ;) Quote:
Where are you getting the 1 year or more idea from? Have you done any testing? |
