I have a website (which i'd like to remain anonymous) which after a month finally began to display in Google. Odd thing though... It ranks well sometimes and not so well at other times???
For instance this morning I was #3 out of about 3 million this evening and now I'm not showing up at all. Unless I wrap my keywords in quotes - then I appear number 7 of about 300. Anyone have a similar experience or insight as to what's happening and why? |

Your hitting different google datacenters, so getting slightly different results.
give it time and things will even out, as google learns about your site more of its datracenters will rank you higher, and you well get consistent results. Until the next set of changes then things work like this again

Hmmm... well... anonymously since your website is rather new it isn't well established which means that your ranks are based on fresh results.
As fresh results change often - you will go up & down & disappear only to go up & down & disappear again. |

So this is normal?
Is there anything I can do (ethically) to push the process along ... to ... secure the top position I sometimes see? When my site has a top listing in a regular Google search - it also shows up on all the Google searches using the Google dance tool. However, when it's gone from the regular google search it's gone in Google Dance as well. Still normal? |

All of the above and load balancing. Google isn't just one database, it's many and they take time to update. When they are busy while everyone is searching, they can give you results from a different database then they did last time you looked.

A month is only a fraction of a second in search engine years. Your site is brand new. Only time... and a quantity of quality inbound links will help secure you a more steady spot.

I agree... Close your eyes and take a deep breath... Exhale... now do that a few million times. The number one attiribute a good SEO has is patience. It will come if... and only if... you work at it.

That is only a month or so (c. 11.5 days/million seconds). It will probably take longer than that......

To add to that. Where are the majority of your links coming from? That can also cause fluctuation. But newer sites do seem to float around a little. google likes to play with its prey

You will get an exact position after a month or two, now Google compare you to others competitors that have their old ranks and you are a new one, hence google some time throw u and some time rise up to SERP........be patients and carry on your link building, updating rich content etc... regards Last edited by zahir : February 22nd, 2007 at 11:19 PM. |
