whats an easy way to check what # you are ranked in google? any good sites?

count it manually, assuming you are on page 1-2-3.
if you are not in first 3 pages, why do u bother counting? I just write, "not in first 30" for my logs. anyway, sometimes i starting counting the sites above me, rather than using a program. if you use a software, it may be tricky. if you are using a site, then since this cannot be done client based, the hosting server ip is connecting to google. i dont want to query google unless i am using my ip.

I agree. Doing a check manually is much better than using a program. If you're not inside the top 30-50 then it doesn't really matter where you are as you're very unlikely to get any hits.

If you really want to check your exact position, set your preferences to 100 results per page and then just use your browser's find function to look for your URL.
