Google penalty for hidden sitemap links?

I have a site with moonfruit which is a flash site builder. Recently they have placed a hidden link structure within the html part of the site which is basically a sitemap from each page. They have been recommended this course of action by hypersubmit.

Would Google penalise sites with this set up?

It will if it is picked up by the algo .... of course it depends how it is hidden.

You can hide a sitemap link behind a image with the alt tage as sitemap ....

this will achieve the same thing but not cause you harm ...

alternatively you can just visably publish the link which is ofcourse the best action possible

    Google luck,

I dont think they will, if its a flash site all you are doing is making it spiderable.

    Why hide the sitemap link?

Do you not want Google to follow and spider the sitemap page?

I think he means to the human eye, not a spider.

It's not a sitemap link. What moonfruit have done is to place a hidden link for every page to the site on every page within the site. Moonfruit is a flash site builder and hosting package - it is something that has been integrated by themselves. The only time you actually see the links is when there is a problem with your internet cache. They have done this in order to ensure that each moonfruit site has all its pages indexed.

    linking - invisable

That can get you in trouble, why not build a site map your self leave the link visible or as earlier mentioned link through an image

Like I say - this is something out of my control. I want to have my facts completely straight before I start accusing them of weird seo techniques. They told me that their links were nothing but image tags and to view the source from the website.

If anyone would be kind enough to go here and view the source code for the website I would be terribly grateful.

    Thanks.

I am seeing <noframe> tag with the link back to their site. I've seen it done on other sites and get the link. But I don't think Search engines like it though.

I managed to post the masked url unfortunately. I have changed it accordingly now. You can also click to the site from here.

    Many thanks.
