PR does not pass with flash links

I just noticed that google does not pass PR from a flash link.

My site has PR6 all text link from the index page have PR5,
those who are linked using flash has PR4 that was trasfered to them from my site map which has PR5

    Can anybody confirm that ??

I can think of 1 reason for that

    1. google does not crawl flash links anymore/temporary

Google has never crawled Flash content (either text or links).

    Are you sure?

I had flash link for a new page which appeard in google serp after a few days. the only place this page was linked from was my index page and in a flash menu bar.
It had PR5 for awhile than it was gone. getting a white bar. I added a text link to my site map and there it shows again...

Yes that is true. Flash about 2 or 3 years ago used to embed all the URLs into the Flash coding in the HTML.

    eg: embed type="flashurls" content="url1.html,url2.html,url3.html"

Something like that not accurate i'm sure (this was 2 or 3 years ago) This was stopped and guess why.........yep SPAM. So everyone gets screwed. So now Google is very sketchy about Flash content.

    Yeppers. Pretty sure.

Sometimes Google will index pages that people browse to with the Google Toolbar, but they will not stick in the index if backlinks are not found after a period of time. I'm assuming that you have the toolbar installed since you reported seeing a PR 5.

Also, sometimes the Toolbar assigns an estimated PR based upon the PR of the domain's index page. Some people call this "ghost PR" or other names. The PR 5 you saw may not be an accurate reflection of the true PR for the page.

You did good adding a text link. That is the only way to ensure that spiders can crawl to a page.

I have seen flash site have good PR from backlinks and only backlinks. Some people may look at that and confuse it with spidering. But its hard to say 100% if it does or dosn't.

Webby is a master at SEO so we gotta ask him on this matter.

Ok Bernard..... I wish I had the time to show you different..

Just for your information since the last algo change google had, there is no estimated PR. only true PR

asher02, if you find the time, I'm willing to look, listen and learn.

I'm giving you the benefit of what I know. Take it for what it is worth. I still see orphaned pages with ghost PR. The Toolbar is far from perfect in PR reporting IMHO.

pk_synths, you are describing a different situation. asher02 is referring to the PR of a page linked to only by flash content - not the PR of a page with flash content.

    Talking

The question is " Does google follows links embed in flash?"
My opinion is that google did it in the near past and does not do it currently.

Believe me that I have enough expriance to claim so, my short green user rank does not mean that I'm a newbie...

Flash links are still non-spiderable as far as I can see, I have many sites that use flash nav to keep PR from being distibuted
Im with B on this one

Ahhhh I get it. No I dont see Google reading those links at all.

Simple ->Google is not a flash player, can't read actionscript or view the content. Unless Google starts dragging around a Flash plugin or Google makes a Flash spider than I dont see this possible.

The only way I see this working is with a embed tag but I dont think Google reads these either. Alltheweb does I believe.

Therefore I cant see PR being passed. I agree with Bernard aswell.

i think the only way to do this is to create a 3 page site .

first page html link to 2 page that has a flash link to a third page. no backlinks to any pages BUT the first and just wait to see if page 3 gets PR.

For now I dont think Google can spider Flash.
