    Google page 1 for a home-based business site...possible?

A friend of mine has been asking about getting page 1 Google rankings for a certain phrase...it's not very competitive, some of the page 1 results don't even have PR. The only problem is, his site is one of those "work at home and make thousands" deals...not necessarily spam, but not exactly the net's most respected type of website.

I don't know if the major directories will let it in, so I'm curious about alternatives to get relevant, PR-carrying links that aren't total crap.

Any thoughts on Google optimization for these work-at-home/MLM/turnkey system/get rich quick type of sites?

If the site can be at least marginally optimized your friend can completely own that niche - if he is a good enough writer.

I agree with EGOL, anything is possible if you put enough effort into it.

Thanks guys. I know we can do a SE optimized site, my problem is the link building...where can you do link building when such sites are considered disreputable?

For most part directories and search engines don't necessarily consider themselves to be the guardians of morality, otherwise pornographic sites of all kinds of perversion would not have stood a chance.

Most every directory will accept home based business sites so long as they have a business category.
