Hello, Im a student just started on an SEO placement. Its all a bit new to me, and this is my first post. However, Ive been doing loads of research and I think im keyed up to the correct techniques to use, and which ones to avoid.
My boss wants me to post to as many forums as possible, posting the same article (i have around 20 articles) each time. Is writing on forums in 2008 a good thing? Can it still work? Is it best to use one article directory just once for one article and then go anto the next with a different article, different directory? How can I successfully use article directories? Is it worth it? Do i have to edit each article time I use it, or is google clever enough to notice an edit? At the start of my placement my boss was talking about creating a blog on site which I was excited about doing. But know his external web guys have somehow put him off the idea and he seems to think article work is more important, even though im not writing them, im just posting them. However, I thought just creating a private blog that only I would write on but anyone could view would be a good idea, as google can see that the site is in a constant state of renewal etc... Is the blog a good idea? How can it work effectively? I'll be grateful for your points, I know theres loads of experts on here so cheers in advance for your posts |

Google Optimization
I like all of these ideas. Writing articles and submiting them to sites featuring the articles and allow them to be reprinted is the best technique, since google loves freshness and as others reprint your articles you will be constantly generating fresh links.
your blog also is good because you can constantly update it with fresh and content. Last edited by lspindeldds : July 11th, 2008 at 07:46 AM. |

Posting on forums that have a NOFOLLOW attrbitue (which most of them do) in the link will give you absolutey no SEO bennefit at all.
Posting in forums that don't have a NOFOLLOW attribute will give you a small bennefit only. Posting the same content over and over again will also not get you very far. Read some of the stuff around this site, you will get the full picture pretty soon.

When I meant forums, I didnt mean blogs, article directories shouldn't have a Nofollow value should they? How do you find out if the form has NOFOLLWOW attribute, is this easily visible in the <head> I have been told to get as many different links to different parts of the website as possible. Although there seems like quite a lot, with 6 or 7 on the article. could I be peanalised for this? Last edited by technohead : July 11th, 2008 at 08:26 AM. |

Have you heard about "duplicated content", thats excatly what you're doing when you post thesame article in multiple domains.
Post your article in a one site and as soon as you get it indexed, you can either sydicate it or distribute them in digg etc |

To find out if a link has been nofollowed, there's this FireFox plugin called NoDoFollow. It's a cool little thing if you spend a lot of time looking for backlinks. I haven't used that plugin very much so I can't comment on its accuracy. You can always check for nofollow manually i.e bring up the source code and use the find function (Ctrl+F). In the find box, just type nofollow and see if it comes up. If it does, check in what context. |
