Question Google My Business - Local listing questions

Hi, I'm a small town local photographer in Bedford, VA. I'm indexed well with Google but not listed in Google My Biz. I'm concerned that I might be losing some business by not being listed on that map.

I'm also wondering, if I were to list, would my links and URLS such as blog posts and other pages be removed if I add my self to the listings? I normally come right up in the 1 or 2 spot.

If you qualify to have a GMB, you should have already claimed your "FREE" listing.

To answer your question, Yes you are losing business by not having a GMB.

Having a GMB listing will not detract from your rankings what-so-ever. In fact it will help you quite a bit. BTW where did you get this idea that it would, (harm your rankings) ?

Hi, What I mean is, if I do list with them, will my links in the actual search results be removed or altered? If you keyword certain things, I come up #1 or #2 in results. Many of my images and posts, etc come up too. I don't want that to change.

Ok.. you are just finding excuses not to have a GMB.

Either enhance your presence on the web by having one or don't and miss out on all the benefits it brings, It is up to you.

Again where did you come up with this BOGUS IDEA a GMB listing would hurt your presence on the internet.

I am going to mention a couple of things about Google modifying your serp listings, and our ability to influence those changes Google makes.

Google has a track record for changing page titles and descriptions when Google, or it's algorithms, determines that it benefits the User !

Google only shows site links when the same software makes the decision, when it is appropriate.

You can however increase the likelihood of influencing Google to modifying the serps to your benefit.

How, by using the following services, features and or coding practices.
(all of these affect CTR and in a Positive Way !)

    1. GMB listing
    2. Rich Snippets to display Review Starred Listing
    3. Rich Breadcrumb URLs

I'm neither stating that they would nor trying to find excuses. I am merely trying to keep my good search results that I already have in the main search results for my keywords that I use to attract potential clients. I have never used GMB and want to make sure that those main results stay in addition to the listing on the map. I'm actually considering using the service area instead of a physical address as we do not have a "studio".

Ok, having a GMB will not affect your rankings currently as they are and appear in a "Negative Way". It does not work that way. You will now show up for even more queries, not fewer !

If you do not have a showroom, ie receive customers at your place of business, then you should be using the service area method and not list a physical address. This is per Google's TOS.

Right, that's why I said I would consider using the service area/coverage area. I am just being cautious. No need to get fired up.
