Google "link:mydomain dot com" doesn't work

"link:my domain dot com" doesn't work with Google

With yahoo I get 800+ links with AltaVista I get 400+ links.

MSN doesn't show any link either.

I've tried all variant of it link:<domain> but nothing seem to show up any link at all.

My site is Google PR2.

I've tried to search net for this issue but in vain.

I wouldnt worry to much, google doesnt show all the links it has found for a website. If you sign up to google webmasters tool it will show you all the links it has in fact found. But PR2 is very small, i would look at just keeping your head down and work on getting links.

Well yeh I got webmaster tool and have been using it for quite sometime. But link: stuff just can't digest why this doesn't work with Google.

No I don't need to bury my head and work on PR#
My shop is already on the No.1/First page for the product searches (all of them about 100+) which I sell.

As I say PR# doesn't matter what matters is people get to your website for the relevant product/info searches.

Cheers

It takes weeks or months before Google switches from showing nothing on the link command to showing you some misleading and incomplete information on some pages that link to you. ;-)

of course, completely agree, it does only matter about people getting the product.

I meant that it doesnt matter about the link: command, but as to why they do it, who knows, people can only give a theory. Also bare in mind that for 800+ links PR 2 is low, so I would hazard a guess that in the main they are directory links? If so you may want to remedy this... Without actually getting your url though i can not give you a complete answer but just guess.

Nop they are not directory links, no link exchange either. All links are pretty clean. about 20ish from my other sites(<=PR2) rest or PR/News/Blog/Articles/Adgertisement of products/Reviews/Digg-ish bookmarking ;) and usual stuff.

I agree need to work a lot if I want to see the green bar keep sliding.

It is quite labourious work takes a lot of time. I'm not in favour of outsourcing this work either so pace is slow. Haven't spent more than 3 months in the SEO work so I must say I've made progress.

I need to be more aggressive with my next business venture launch in UK as I've to compete in the most competative domain.
