Google keyword cache highlighting problem

Hi,

I need some help to find out why any keyword I use to find pages on my site don't tie up with the cache highlighted. I have also been stripped of my page rank but this has not affected my placements but I am a bit concerned. I can supply any info from webmaster control panel if needed.

Please check in google with site name as keywords "nerja realty" and check cache to see wrong highlighted keywords.

Thanks in advance,

I think I see what you mean.

Its high lighting News instead of Nerja right?

I can't see why this would be. There could be something funky with a CSS declaration that is the same which offsets the high light.

The questions to ask your self are

What has changed lately?

Did you add in any new Javascript code?
Die you add or change a CSS file?

Any other observations?

Hi,

Thanks for your help.

I've not made any changes to the CSS but there is various scripts in the header and footer but they should not effect this as they are only tracking codes and I have google custom search engine search box, do you think this could be the problem? I removed the google custom logo from the search results page and I think your suppose to keep that displayed but I would not think it would cause this?

The problem I have is that and don't really know how long this has been going on for and I am always making changes so it could be a nightmare.

Also my site was encoded by the programers with some asp encode which may have effected it.

Have you ever seen this before? any more help would be appreciated.

No I haven't seen this before.

I would be interested to hear of anyone else experiencing this problem.

I looked at the code for the cahced version and its just a word match, it doesn't try and by tricky by putting a block of colour near a word. It is litterally just a highligh of the matching word.

I have no idea how it can be getting confused.

This is a strange one.

It obviously finds your site for that keyword but it doesn't seem to highlight it on the cached version.

Weird....

Maybe due to links or some other external variable it assosiates Nerja with news?

I know a fair bit about programming, the DOM and how things like that can effect each other.

I am sure thats not what is happening here. When the text is parsed as a string in the Google Cahce it should just put the highlight tags anywhere it finds Nerja but it doesn't.

This is very strange.

I just thought - we should check this out on different data centers. I will go do that now.

This is really strange I tried several different data centers and got the same in all do I don't think its a verion issue.

I then considered that the word Nerja might mean news and the geo location / character encoding or other factor might be causing the wrong word to display - but no.

I then searches in the spanish version of Google and got the same issue.

I am stumped.... anyone else got any thoughts?

Thanks for your continuing posts on the issue, it really is bizare, if I use other keywords I have the same problem for e.g.:

Nerja Property (nš3 position)

and this one lands on a different page on my site so its not just on the home page:

Nerja Schools

Thanks again, I really need to get to the bottom of this.....

I don't understand. Everything works fine for me. I searched for nerja realty and visited the top 5 sites:

www.nerjarealty.com,
www.nerjarealty.com/pages/EN/Nerja_Schools_Colegios_en_Nerja.asp (two separate listings on the first page)
www.estateangels.co.uk/international/agent/nerja_realty/68524
www.hotfroguk.co.uk/Companies/Nerja-Realty
www.nerjavillahire.com/property.php
nerja.ru/pages/EN/viewProperty.asp?ID=221&Mode=0&PAGE=1

And I clicked the highlight button on the Google toolbar. Everything seems to be working fine. I'm not sure I understand the problem.
