    Google is deindexing my site

This week Google start deindexing my site. It is a multilangue site and it has many different domains (.com, .es, .de, etc) In all domain the site has deindexed for intance in the .com domain we have

    360.976 pages submitted
    262.859 pages indexed

    Now we have:

    360.976 pages submitted
    142.418 pages indexed

So we have deindexed 120.441 pages and in all domain is more and less the same

    What could it be?

Sounds like a penalization, have you taken part in any kind of unreputable activities the big G might frown upon? You might want to take a look at your backlink profile, maybe you find an angry Penguin chipping away at your indexation.

Thanks Don for your reply. We were penalized on October 2014, we submiteed the disavow file in several ocasion till Google eventually lift the ban on January 2015. Since them we havenīt bought any more links. We did have some technical problems but nothing very serious

Could it be that Google penalize us again?

It's perfectly plausible, maybe you didn't clean all the spammy links or maybe you built new links that are now considered unnatural. Another option is a Panda hit, what kind of content do the deindexed pages have?

For sure we didnīt clean all the spammy links but Google lifted the ban last January. In addition to this, when we got the ban google told us throught webmaster tools. Now webmaster tools only shows a Server connectivity issue although the site can be fetch as google without any problems

Our business is to rent tourist apartments and this is the content that we have in our pages. It is true that we update some of the content of many pages, can we be penalized for updating content?

It is a good idea to submit another disavow file?

Don't assume a penalty unless you see a clear message in Google Webmaster Tools. Do you see one? If no, then don't jump to conclusions.

How are you checking the index?
Have you made any tweaks to the site?
Is there any effect on traffic / rankings?
Everything will be ok in the end

If it's not ok, it's not the end

    HI everyone

    - I am checking the index through webmaster tools: Crawl> Sitemap> Webpages submitted & indexed

    - I just add a bit of content to some pages

    - The traffic seems to go down a bit but nothing very serious

Not jumping to conclusions is always good advice but I personally would take a good look at the situation in order to figure out whether or not a penalty might be in place. Would there be a notification in WMT even if it's an algorithm penalty instead of a manual one?

Ín WMT will not be a notification if it's an algorithm penalty. I have to look for others tips like the number of pages that google has desindexed. I could not find any other issue that could warn me about a penalty

What can I look for? How can I look for any sign of Google penalty?. Thanks

We have a free crawler too: Free Crawl Tool, Google Sitemap Generator

Are there any alerts in GWT? There may be an increase in some connection errors or something similar...

Also not sure what type of algorithmic penalty you mean here....

I was under the belief that both Panda and Penguin could slap an algorithm penalty on a site without any kind of notification through WMT. Maybe this is old news and has changed, case in which I'd like to retract my previous comments.

There are not alerts as messages. The only thing that I can find in GWT are:

    - Desindexed pages: Crawl> Sitemap> Webpages submitted & indexed
    - There is a warning on Server connectivity in the crawl connectivity section
    - I mean significan drop in SERP

Both of them have definitive days when you start seeing some affects:

    Penguin:

    • April 24, 2012: Penguin 1.0 (#1)
    • May 25, 2012: Penguin 1.1 (#2)
    • October 5, 2012: Penguin 1.2 (#3)
    • May 22, 2013: Penguin 2.0 (#4)
    • October 4, 2013: Penguin 2.1 (#5)

    Panda:

    • February 23, 2011: Panda 1.0 (#1)
    • April 11, 2011: Panda 2.0 (#2)
    • May 9, 2011: Panda 2.1 (#3)
    • June 21, 2011: Panda 2.2 (#4)
    • July 23, 2011: Panda 2.3 (#5)
    • August 12, 2011: Panda 2.4 (#6)
    • September 28, 2011: Panda 2.5 (#7)
    • October 5, 2011: Panda “flux” (#8)
    • November 18, 2011: Panda 3.1 (#9)
    • January 18, 2012: Panda 3.2 (#10)
    • February 27, 2012: Panda 3.3 (#11)
    • March 23, 2012: Panda 3.4 (#12)
    • April 19, 2012: Panda 3.5 (#13)
    • May 27, 2012: Panda 3.6 (#14)
    • June 8, 2012: Panda 3.7 (#15)
    • June 25, 2012: Panda 3.8 (#16)
    • July 24, 2012: Panda 3.9 (#17)
    • August 20, 2012: Panda 3.9.1 (#18)
    • September 18, 2012: Panda 3.9.2 (#19)
    • Sepetmber 27, 2012: Panda #20
    • November 5, 2012: Panda #21
    • November 21, 2012: Panda #22
    • December 21, 2012: Panda #23
    • January 22, 2013: Panda #24
    • March 14, 2013: Panda #25
    • July 18, 2013: Panda Recovery (#26)
    • May 19, 2014: Panda 4.0 (#27)

If you see a traffic decline around those dates, you can assume you were hit...

Also, Penguin has no affect on the number of indexed pages...

There is a warning on Server connectivity in the crawl connectivity section
Have you looked into that? Maybe Google can't access your site? Maybe it's often down?

Yes Anne I look into to it and Google can access the site with no problems and the site rarely goes down. So I donīt know why so many pages get desindexed and why SERP is going down slowly, or why there is a warning on server connectivity. Thanks
