Question Google Dance - length of dance

    Here's my situation;
    1. ) I've added SEO to my site's index page (www.tigergreenproductions.com/index.php) for the keyword phrase "custom software development."

    2. ) The site has been listed on google for a year - but not for that keyword.

    3. ) I've seen another of my sites move in ranking on google, with site changes completed after the tiger green changes, but the tigergreen site isn't even showing up in the top 500. In fact, I'm not sure where it falls.

My question is if the dance started around the 8th or 9th, when will it be finished? Should I check daily or should I wait for a week?

I'm fairly confident the index page is SEO'd fairly well for google but feel free to check yourself and let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi chris!

That sure looks like "a hard" keyword to target... and the website looks real good to me, perhaps you should try to submit to dmoz, maybe that could help.

No one can actually tell when the dance is going to end. But if you check out the paste, it seems like a new datacenter receives the new index every 2 days or so (well, from what I've noticed for now).

    good luck.

    I would optimize this page

http://www.tigergreenproductions.com...velopment.php. Convert it to html and let your anchor link from your PR5 front page give it a boost. I have seen a huge increase in importance for anchor text. Anybody else seen this?

if you look on the frontpage there is a link " custom software develpment " google appears to give further relevance to the linked page against the text in the link. Hence the linked page gets better ranking for that particular word.

The custom software develpment page is not indexed with google. I have found that php pages tend not to get indexed. Good old Googlebot love html files

    Thanks, I'll optimize that page.

I've read that google doesn't like server side pages that use query statements. But that even that has been fixed by google. I build pages with common parts, like a menu, stored in txt files. A simple php include pulls in the content. I figure google is indexing it now and I do see frequent visits by the googlebot so I'll leave it as is.

I've looked for other keywords but nothing seems as frequent or as powerful as "custom software development." ALso, quite a few of the pagesin the top 20 are not even optimized. I would think that would give me a shot at it.

Good point about the sub page not being indexed. Buth other pages are, like my pricing page and contact page. Interesting.

i got an email today that google started dancing today

and according to the google-dance.com tool it did

i remember the dance used to be around 4 days while it indexed the whole lot but now aparently there has been some sort of change

i dont know much about it but since we are optimizing all the time... sepecially when google dances... it would help to have an idea on how much time we have left

    Hi guiles,

You've probably been away for a while because nowdays what we consider 'the google dance' is when google updates backlinks and recalculates PageRank. You can optimize your website anytime, because google now update it's index (cache) on a daily basis.

You can do all your SEO work today, and you might see the changes tomorow. (Depending on how frequently googlebot crawls your website)

There is no 'need' to know when it's going to end, unless your really curious about your new PR value.

the toolbar is still the classic way to check PR.

But many use tools like the ABC tool to check PR on different datacenters..

    I just use my patience.

Chris, I went to school at Frankin College! I thought that was pretty interesting when I went to your homepage and noticed the zip code. Small world. Where in Franklin are you located?

I live in Oakleaf subdivision just behind Kroger. Tiger Green is part time with hopes to go full time in four years. Right now, i work in downtown Indy as a computer programmer.

When did you grad from Franklin?

    And where are you now?

    hey ST,
If that is true, then why do my sites STILL not show up after 6 weeks??
I have submitted them every other week and they are being ignored.
    WHY?!?!?!

totaly wrong , there is no differences all my indexed pages are
    .php

    sometimes with 2 parameters .php?val1=value&val2=value2

most of good sites are in php and google love them

the fact is if your parameter is ?id= or ?sID= it won't be indexed cause of session problems.
