Google current SERP's

How does google update its SERP's?

Is it constant?

For example, I'm trying to place top 10 for this keyword...not too popular...and I think my site can compete.

I was recently on Page 8, rank 84 for the keyword I wanted to use.

I optimized my whole entire front page so that Google can pick up some content and links about my keyword.

I did this, and a day and a half later, I went to page 5, rank 53

My sites been up since the start of November and is still PR rank 0 when I use any pr checking tools.

So as of now, with no PR up to date yet and my sites rank is still 0, also with only about 20 backlinks from PR 3-Pr 5 sites----is there nothing I can do to improve my SERPS?

Once google updates its PR, calculates my backlinks, etc, would my SERPs improve for this keyword I want?

Thanks,
Bobby

PR has nothing to do on SERPs(ranking). Get more quality links and high PR site's this will do the tricks... also consider your keywords as your anchor text, will give credits on SERps.

Sounds like you're a bit new, maybe your site is being filtered because it's new. For more info on data pushes and alog changes read this:
