Google changes Image results drastically. Image traffic actually worth something now?

I'm not sure if everyone can see this yet, but Google completely revamped their Image results. While the use of frames is still there, the new system really begs the user to close the lightwindow'd image and view the entire webpage.

I wonder if those with image traffic will now see additional pageviews and increased conversions?

No changes to Google Images here...

From my location (Norway) there are no changes yet...

Anyone know why it takes so long to do this worldwide ? Are they still testing the capacity of this new functionality ?

So far I really like it except when you go to click on the original "Larger" image you have to X out the other and find the source to open the original. It's not that big of a deal but I like see hundreds of images without having to click on to the next page.

Images rarely convert, unless the image deals exactly with the context of the content. Any images that are symbolic, hypothetical, analogous, or the like, will not lead to a conversion at all.

I get a lot of traffic from the image query "sand castles" because I have a sand castle image on one of my posts. No way that's going to convert.
