Google analytics
Hi, The other day I installed Google analytics on my website, today it is showing only one visitor and yet the software we were using Webalizer Version 2.01 shows we had 10,000 visitors. I presume one figure is wrong, or more hopefully I have installed Google Analytics incorrectly...
I placed this code immediately before the closing body tag on our hoempage; <script type="text/javascript"> var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www."); document.write("<script src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'></script>" ); </script> <script type="text/javascript"> var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-number"); pageTracker._initData(); pageTracker._trackPageview(); </script> Is there something else I was meant to do? |

That is quote a difference
Code:
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-number");
I presume you replaced your actual UA Number with this line to hide the indentity? If not that is the problem. I presume that you have the analytics verified and recieving data? Doe it says this on your control panel? Be aware that a "hit" and a "unique page view or visit" are very different things. A single unique page view generates muliple hits.

Yes the number is correct.
I believe I varified it. Plus with the visitor stats we are using at the moment we only look at visits, and not hits. So unless there is something additional to the code placed in my index.php page, I am confused as to the difference in number of visitors!!! Something I suppose I should mention Google analytics will only let me have the web address/hompage, when I try to add a dynamic page it states that I am using an invalid input. So I only have the URL being monitored, having plce the code in index.php. Google never asked for the actual page the code is on. |

Did you just installed the google analytics right after you see the traffic result? Check it tomorrow. there maybe a discrepancy but its just a little.

How long has it been since you installed Google Analytics? I believe there's a minimum time period that you have to wait out before Google starts showing any reliable statistics.
Also, I think you have yet to answer this: Quote:
EDIT: Quote:
Have you checked your analytics control panel for issues? |
