Getting into the top ten in Google

Hi

I think I've done the impossible! In that I managed to get a single page website in the top ten rankings on a number of search phrases in google. There are quite a lot of competing websites for each phrase, and the rankings have been stable for about a month now. In fact on one phrase there are 102,000 competing sites!

Have I just been lucky?

I've put some information on the site, and the phrases for which it is optimised, on an automatic email. If you want the information sent to you by email send a blank email to top10@freeautobot.com

102,000 isn't a great deal of results to be honest .. but I guess for a single page website it's not bad!

May inbound links?

I sent a blank email to that address... am I liable to receive 100GB of porn and spam everyday?

Hi

I'm quite happy to post the information that I've setup on the autoresponder, it's just that I did'nt want to get accused of inappropriate use of the forum.

Quite new to this game, you see!

Maybe if the administrator can confirm it's O.K I'll post the info!

is the weightloss site the one you are talking about? are the sites you link to also owned by you. i dont really care, but i was just thinking that google might consider that link farming if they are owned by youj. Also why do so many people trying to optimize for google, put a link to google on their sites? Have you guys found that to help? Thanks, Alex

Yes the site I've built is at:

www.weightlossbyhypnosis.com

There are about 3 links from sites that are not owned by me that have linked to my site. The site can be found in the top ten if you use any of the keyphrases:

"weight loss by hypnosis" obviously!
"weight loss through hypnosis"
"hypnosis review" number 3 out of 101,000

There are a variety of other phrases but the results are generally on the second page rather than the first.

I don't know a great deal about search engine optimisation, so I bought an ebook on the subject of getting microsites into google and simply followed the instructions. I was surprised at how quickly (2 weeks) the site was indexed and how high the rankings were.

Do more experienced search engine people think this was a bit of a fluke?

I intend to build some more test sites, and I'll keep you posted on progress. If you want details of the ebook and and rules I followed go to:

www.weightlossbyhypnosis.com/google.html

I can't find your site in the top 30 with any of the searches you mention. Also, the site has PR0. I suggest you work on getting many more links to the site.

By the way, that last link is an affiliate link, and I would go even further and say that this entire thread is just a scam to get more affiliate sales on that book.

Gringo.

Gringo,

I can assure you this is not some cheap scam!

I can't understand what has happend to my site, as I notice it has disappeared from google. I'll see what happens after the dance.

However can I point you to do a search on 'bicycle reviews' to see the number one rank for the example site given in the ebook.

I am simply trying to share an exciting resource that I think will help a lot of people, optimise their sites for google. Sorry if my enthusiasm has translated into a 'scam' in your view.

I would suggest waiting a couple of days after the next dance and searching for my site again, I'm confident it will be back. Meanwhile do a search on bicycle reviews to see a single page indexed at number 1 out of 384,000.

Has anyone else experienced their site going in and out of google, for no apparent reason?

The bicycle reviews page is PR5 with 50 links registered in Google, many of them using the anchor text "bicycle reviews" - this is therefore no surprie at all - it's what makes a page top in Google.

If your previous posts weren't a scam, why did you post an affiliate link here? Why did you ask people to send an email to an autoresponder which replies, encouraging people again to click on that same affiliate link.

This is a scam to try and earn money by making people buy a book for which you receive commission - it has nothing to do with sharing knowledge about Google.

Gringo

ohyes....if you are not trying to scam anyone, how about outlining for us what that book says to do? To have a site jump up on Google, then go away, especially with a PR0 is very common. You break the rules and you're history with Google. If this is the case, I doubt that we'll see your weightloss site after the dance.

If it was really in the top spot for that short time, then you were part of the fresh bot update that adds new links for a short time and then dumps them.

Despite the critics, my site is back in the top ten on the original keyphrases plus a host of others. Following the google dance the PR has moved to 4, which I hope is an indication that it is likely to remain well ranked.

As I've said previously I don't know a great deal about Search engines, but have simply followed some relatively straight forward rules outlined in the ebook. I did'nt expect a single page to do so well, as I was always of the belief that it was difficult to get into google. Being in google has meant I'm seeing a fair bit of traffic from the other search engines.

Some of the things suggested in the ebook include:

The importance of keyword density and the need focus on a primary keyword/phrase for each page of a site.

Ensuring where possible that the keyphrase is located in certain aspects of the page such as the title and domain name (even if the domain name is completely different to the keyphrases, include the keyphrase in the naming of the html page and directory)

The overwhelming influence of being listed in dmoz or yahoo on artificially elevating the pages page rank

There are no what I what call sneaky tactics, and a lot of it is common sense. However the combined effect of simple rules appears to be quite significant.

Having said all of that I hope I don't appear from google by the time some of you read the post. I'm pretty sure I won't!

You can check the rankings for phrases such as:

"weight loss by hypnosis"
"weight loss with hypnosis"
"hypnosis review"
"weight loss through hypnosis"
"weight loss using hypnosis"

The rankings are the same in yahoo.com due to some relationship between the engines, I'm told!
