    Geo-targetting: Tagretting a language to a single country affects in other countries?

    Hi all,

    We have enabled a plugin which translated our site to subdirectories. We are going to geo target certain language sites to their countires. Like Portuguese site website.com/it/ will be targetted to rank in Portugal. I wonder what to do with language sites where the same langauge is spoken in multiple countries. For example, if we target english site website.com to US; will it effects the ranking in other english countires like UK, Australia, Canada, etc....?

    Thanks

    This is really useful. In the future, this will rock. Language will not be an issue in the future. It will also good for seo. The ranking of a website will also affect with this extension.
    I will try.

    For targeting languages in any country you have to use the "hreflang" feature. For instance if you want to target English USA and English UK you will have to use

    <link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-us" href="https://..........com/">
    <link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-uk" href="https://..........co.uk/" or com/uk.html(if you are using a folder rather than a domain)>

    FYI UK is en-gb not en-uk - this is in accordance with the ISO 3166-1
