Geesh, do i have a problem
I am no expert in anything, seo or building websites, so...
I build my site with Yahoo page builder, for which I pay 19.95 a month, and learn as much as I can here. Today I was reading Garythesubaguy's tips and decided to go through the steps one by one. I ran a dead link check using dead-links.com and it was ok except for some minor stuff needed fixing and checking.....can do there. So ok.... Then I thought I would take a look at the source code from my web browser. Now, when I view the "source" from my computer's web browser I find many of these - <td><img src="http://www.geocities.com/clipart/pbi/c.gif" height=1 width=3></td> near the top of the code. Yahoo said nothing to worry about, but when I do a google search for <td><img src="http://www.geocities.com/clipart/pbi/c.gif" height=1 width=3></td> I turn up Villa La Cage Negril. I took the clipart junk out of the index file right then and there, but because of the way Yahoo works, I can't change anything else on the page now without handcoding it. That is to much for me to do everytime I work on my pages. I made a copy of the original index page here wicks-wax-scents.com/abd dot html (I don't want this page indexed by search engine) in case anyone wanted to see what I was talking about. This stuff is on every other page of my site too. Am I wrong to worry? Is this geocities.com/clipart really linking to Villa La Cage Negril? Is Google seeing this code on my pages as a link to Villa La Cage Negril? |

It's not seen as a link to the other site, simply that the other site also uses the image, and hence gets returned in a search for that image, as do many other sites. I really can't see the use of such clipart in any way being used to associate the sites' relevance to each other -- geocities has been around long enough for Google to have picked up on it being used by many many sites with widely varying subject matter.
