    Forums and key phrases

How do you optimize a forum for a set of key phrases.

On a static site, it is easy to figure out a few key phrases, and start optimizing around them.

On a forum, users are contributing topics, and searchers find the topic-and not the forum.

So how would you approach key phrase optimization for a forum?

I would think that a forum would be naturally optimized. After all if it is about cars, won't people be posting about cars all the time therefore targeting those keywords?

If it is a new forum, you could start by registering under many names and posting lots of articles, press releases and points of discussions on those subjects. However, I doubt if it was a forum on cars, that you could optimize for "britney Spears" or some other unrelated keyword.
