Fluctuating Rankings and url for GWT
Hi fellow SEO's,
I have a client who i got into Google and his site was ranked high (position 1-7) over numerous keyphrases from shorttail to longtail. His site url's are STILL in googles indexes however, today when i checked ranking, many many keywords have lost rank. Some are not even found! I believed some of us may have experienced this at some point or another. Should i be concerned and what can be the reason for this. Any advice on this is much appreciated. The next thing is this: If i submit my xml sitemap in webmasters central under a domain "w w w dotblahblahdotcom"( sorry no url's allowed) as opposed to "blahblah.com", does this make a difference in influencing rankings?? Any advice on these 2 addressments is very much appreciated! |

Hi,
This is often simply the result of reshuffling and other data center changes. Generally the smartest strategy is to wait it out. In the meantime, there are a couple alternative explanantions to rule out: 1) The site is being badly beaten by a competitor 2) You've made some recent change (usually on-page) that may account for changes in the site's ranking 3) You've commited some error and are being penalized You should submit your sitemap in whatever format you have in your htaccess. The general rule is that you should pick either http:// or www and stick with it, permanently redirecting one to the other. Whichever you decide to stick with is the one you should submit. Hope that helps. |
