First page for competitive term
The term i want to rank for is
Silver Jewelry My site is new.. Already put up a coming soon page while the ecommerce store is developing. In the mean time, I am getting links from - Article directories - Free web directories - Press release distribution - Social bookmarking I should have 1,000 links within 30 days or so pointing to my site. What will it take to get on the 1st page for this term? Thanks. |

A lot more than that.
'Silver Jewelry' is very competitive and you should concentrate on more limited extension subsets of that phrase, such as 'Silver pendant earrings' or similar.

First of all, I wouldn't be developing a bunch of links and traffic to a site that doesn't exist yet. All those links will be worth nothing once the people that visit you decided to negatively report your links. Most social bookmark sites allow people to vote or report bad links. A coming soon page ain't gonna cut it.
Directories aren't going to submit you unless you have something there. At least none of the ones that are of any value at least. Leave the offsite link building till you've built up some pages worth linking to.

You wont make it for that term within 12 months without some serious SEO
Best go for less competitive words that will give you the customers you want |

I totally agree. I think you should focus your time on the content on your site and making sure you have something to offer once people get to your page. If you have a good site you may start getting lots of natural links without having to do anything. A lot of the sites that rank well, rank well for a reason. They have something to offer that people WANT to link to. I would focus on getting your site together first and then building links.

First of all I must echo the responses of two other posters... what the heck are you doing? Your building links to a site that essentially doesn't exist? Anyone who would link to a "under construction" site must have a very poor site of their own... 1000 links from related quality sites would be plenty of links to get your site ranked for that keyword but you have not listed one quality method of link building. Again to echo the message of others, finish your site and build that up to a point where people will naturally link to it and then build links. Your seo strategy is badly warped if you are building links when your site is still under construction. I would suggest you also not to build links to your ecommerce pages... it will be very hard to get quality links to those pages. Instead build resource pages on different pieces of jewelry(those that you sell), give information people are looking for and turn these pages into linkbaits. Secondly while your main target is "silver jewelry" you should be targeting secondary keywords now, keywords far easier but ones that still carry a fair amount of traffic such as "silver jewelry chains" which had 2400 searches last month in Google but which averages around 5000. There are many keyword phrases like this one which carry anywhere from 2-10K searches and yet have very little competition, they will be far easier to conquer and will help build a web presence which increases the natural links flowing in. Here are a few more random silver jewelry related keywords with low competition: silver jewelry cross - 4,400 searches in google in august silver jewelry beads - 1,900 stone silver jewelry - 3,600 stone silver jewelry - 1000 Now I realize these may not all be relevant to your sales products however even if they are not they may be perfect ideas for linkbait pages. If you can rank for these keywords and bring traffic in, there is still a good chance they might buy something but even if they do not the links these pages will gain is still very valuable. I hope you use this information and put it to good use...

Get your site up first.
If you want an idea of how many backlinks to generate to your site to even begin to compete, just analyze the backlinks of the site already ranking in number one for your chosen keyword note the PR of the pages that are linking to them Even if you manage to generate all the relevant links, you need to realize that they have the advantage of age |
