Explain Google-Dance

Newbie question.

I found out that my site recently ranks #3 for a top adult keyword
on Google.

It's not really a site, it's actually a SINGLE page from which I run
an affiliate program for ClickCash. This position is bringing in
a ton of traffic. The KEYWORD which returns over 1,000,000
results appears ONLY ONCE on the page (the web site only contains
a single page) so its kinda weird how I got such a great
position. The meta tags don't contain the keyword at all, so it's gets
even "weirder".

Now, what I do have is a TON of domain names (previously
expired names, with google, AV, etc) traffic pointing to that
one site. That's the only explanation I can think off as to
why my keyword placement is so high.

Now, my question is, how to I keep this position? Would it be
wise to update the "page", to make the keyword appear many
more times? Or just leave it the hell alone?

I checked the Google-Dance page, and it's showing up for the
www2 and www3 servers as having the same position.

Question #2, When the "Google-Dance" starts, can I change the
page around a little, wait a day and see how it effected the placement
and if I don't like it, can I change it back, while "Google-Dance" is
in progress?

Thank You!
Luc L.

As explanations go... that's pretty good.

Now, how are you linking to that site? The words you use in the anchor text are important too don't forget. If the word you're doing well for is (for example) bottom (hehe) then if you have 'see more bottom content here' and 'big bottom mamas' etc. etc. as the linking text.. well you get the picture.

So you needn't have the word 'bottom' plastered all over that page in order for it to look like a page that is important for the bottom lovers out there.

the search-results on www2 and www3 are the same, because there is no google-dance at the moment. In more than 2 weeks, there will be the dance.

And - never change your site during the dance. After the dance is done - you can change your site - but during the dance - NO!

Some tips: Drink a tea and wait. If google changes it's algo in a great way, then you'll have a problem.

sl,
Innuendo

the first thing i would do is check google's cache of the site, easy to do just search for yourdomain.com and click on the "google's cache..." option

if google has a good snapsoot of your page and it still has only one of the keyword that it is ranked high for go to step 2.

step 2, query google like this, link: www.yourdomain.com and see if the links on the sites that are listed and lead to your site contain the keyword that you are ranking high for, if this still doesn't help go to step 3.

step 3, sit back and scratch your head...lol

Step 1.

Yeah, checked that cache, the keyword only appears once. There is not a lot of text on that single page either, just about 20 pictures each made into a link.

2. There is only one link to my page. Its the same link as the one that pops up for the top keyword.

3. I've been doing this ever since yesterday, it's strange, and the only
thing I can think of is those other domains must be making Google think
that the site is actually a popular site...

Thanks for all your tips guys! If you have any other suggestions, please
send em over!

One other thing. Before I actually knew my rating (earlier this month, probably on the 5th or so), I changed some things on the site and uploaded it.

This is what I changed:

1. I made the keyword appear a lot more
frequenly, I'd say about 700 times in invsibile (to the eye)
text surrounding the area of what was previously
cached by yahoo. I also added other keywords that
relate to the original keyword (which is two words, so
I just kept the primary word and added other
words to the beggining and end).

2. I added invisible (to the eye) links to my other sites,

ex <a href="blah.com">Blah.com - Your source for blah blah blah</a>

Some might figure that this was a pretty stupid thing to do,
and now that I know that I have such a high rating, all
this might screw it up and bring me down lower but I heard
from someone that repeating your "keywords" throughout
your page actually increases your rank.

Well, here is my question. Was my CHANGED PAGE already
spidered? Someone said that they get spidered at the
beggining of the month? Once it was spidered they already
have the new cachce and during "the dance" they will simply
place it where it belongs using the cache they collected earlier
in the month?

Thanks Guys!
Luc L.

Actually doing stuff like that is considered spamming of keywords and a lot of search engines will dump you for that, if I'm not mistaken.Using your keywords effectively in your descriptions and text through your page is what they mean, not just hiding it within your script

Just as a tip - I always add a date to all my pages and a template number so I know when it was crawled and more importantly which one works. Just click on the google cache link and you can see the date it was added / updated
