    Exact match domain

    Hi all,

I have just set up my website and so because the site is not earning any revenue i have a very small seo budget and i can not afford to pay for a monthly package.

so in the mean time i have bought the domain leatheriphone4case.co.uk which the term "leather iphone 4 case" gets around 10k search a month. Will this rank quickly on the first page for that term quickly and reasonable automatically? my website is run using shopify cart so i think all the coding of the site is seo friendly already?

I have set up the domain so it redirects directly to the relating page on my website, although there is a problem with the www. the domain only works when you enter into the url bar leatherphone4case.co.uk, not when you enter the www at the front anyone know why this is happening?

I could buy around 20 domains like this for exact match phases so am thinking if it works i could get some good rankings and good traffic in the short term, then use the money to pay for seo for a more competitive search terms? Will my strategy work? or am i just daydreaming?

or if anyone else has got some goods tips for getting some high ranks in the short term please post!

    best regards

    James

    NO

I am an advocate for EMD and own several of them. But I still work my assoff for my rankings. They give you a slight rankings advantage. That's all. I have to work hard to beat the same sites that are visible in your SERPs. They can be hard to beat!

I have just set up my website and so because the site is not earning any revenue i have a very small seo budget and i can not afford to pay for a monthly package.
The biggest mistake that I have made was not betting on myself earlier. If you are a reasonably smart person with strong work ethic and dedication to this business, then get a loan, get a second job, sell your baseball cards or downsize your car to get the money needed to build your biz. Also start working your assoff to learn as much as possible as fast as possible about SEO. If you want three years until your "Ship Comes In" the web will be a much more competitive place.

if anyone else has got some goods tips for getting some high ranks in the short term please post!
ADWORDS.... but here again, you gotta be really smart. The competitors there will eat your lunch.

Any idiot can "buy traffic" but you've gotta have a lot of smarts, a finely tuned website, and a good business to make money from that traffic.

What EGOL said.. and the actual number for the UK is 880 local monthly searches, no 10,000, you had it on broad searches not exact.

    strange strategy James
You could but I wouldn't buy a bunch of domain names for ranking purposes, (as you've described) and I wouldn't redirect my home page to internal pages either. Make the home page about your site...then create sub pages for your other terms.
I would make my home page about iphone cases, and then sub pages for leather cases and additional pages for what ever else your aiming for. Perhaps the manufacturers...like Nokia iphone leather cases.

That's a shame I was hoping this would work in the short term.

Really I had the phase in brackets? How to I check it's on exact?

I have used Adwords in the past but just spent my way through £200 with no sales.

When using Adwords is it better to use one campaign with say the term "iphone 4 case" because this didn't seem to work for me. Or is it better to set up many campaigns and use many more specific phrases like "iPhone 4 leather case" "iPhone 4 flip case" ect then set up the URL page so it only sells the relating products?

What's the best way to set up an Adwords campaign?

Crazy question, but why don't you just sell on ebay/amazon? or do you already.

@OP, you already have some good suggestions from the finest SEO. SEO is vital thing for website until you be the popular enough like ebay, amazon etc...

To me you have to collect low hanging fruits First. find low competitive and less search volume keywords, build relevancy for your website by targeting these keywords. you can outrank easily for these keywords and in some cases they are good for conversion as well.

Adwords is number game. you have to be sharp analyst to run adwords campaign effectively. same as organic, you should find low bid keywords, create three ad groups (for exact, phrase and broad match) for each keywords. track which one is performing well, tweak your ad text and check which ad copy attract more users. tweak your landing page to improve conversion rate.

facebook and digg is alternate options for you to promote your website. Digg has separate newsroom for apple (digg.com/newsrooms/apple) and I personally use digg for long time (just to digg cool stuff).

at last, I have seen similar cases especially for small business owner where budget is the main concern but I would say that SEO price is depends on competitiveness of keywords so first get the price quotation.

You can buy exact match domain but this alone will not give you your desired results as there are lots of things to do for increasing traffic, SERP, PR, revenue etc.

So as per best way is to start educating yourself about SEO and Search Engine algorithm as it not too difficult but yes it require dedication and hard work.

There are many tutorial available now a days so start learning seriously if you are serious about your business. And the one main reason behind this is if you are aware of this and have knowledge concern to SEO than you don't have to rely on SEO services, you can do it by your own and no one can cheat you also.

So best of luck and get started as soon as possible.

But you don't buy them and redirect them to your keyword site...right? I'm thinking you use them to build a site around.
I think JamesJohn is talking about using them to redirect for seo purposes after reading This

yeah my plan was to use the exact match domains to redirect to a specific page, but judging from your response i guess that wouldn't work.

Guess I will have to try something else. I have actually found an seo guy who looks quite promising.

Use a keyword rich url for blogging about your product...not 20 of them, you only need one maybe 2.
