Question Ever notice all the nofollow code used by SEO Chat?

Kinda interesting they use nofollow on links to their home page...

all no follow tags are highlighted in pink boxs..

I'm using the SearchStatus plug-in for FireFox that shows nofollow tags.. great for finding shady webmasters

Interesting. I am guessing they think that having so many links to the same page from every page of the site is problematic, or that it drains PR from other pages without any benefit. Probably a good startegy - leave on a single link on each page to your home page.

More interesting to me is the nofollows on the links in the top nav to the rest of their sites. I wonder if they are concerned about sitewides.

it's interesting to see how other sites use nofollow... check tripadvisor.com.. who ranks #2 for "vacation" on google.. they have a nofollow all over their site and forums.. they depend on search results for their business ...

funny how some hotels get a nofollow, but others do not .. wonder why?

nofollow marked in pink...

SEOChat has enough external links that there is no need to try and squeeze all the PR onto the homepage. It makes more sense for threads to have rank and show for specific searches. It's called good SEO.

the nofollow on seo chat is a sore subject from a few months back which we wont go into. but it is one of the reasons all the top guys left this place.

Personally I don't care either way, thus why I still come here.

Ahh, right, I wondered where they'd all gone. Biggest shame is that we don't appear to have anyone championing the black hat cause at the moment.

The other forum

Is syndk8.net, but they are a blackhat forum. Anything you learn their should not be employed on a white hat site.

About the 1 thing all of us (wh and bh alike) agree on is never put bh on a wh site. The two dont mix. It will get a wh site banned in a heart beat.

I'd agree with that.
White hat - in for the long haul.
Black hat - in for the quick buck, throw away the domain, start again.

They're both valid approaches though and it made for lively discussions when black hat was more represented here.

When you've lived long enough on the Net playing the SEO game - having wittingly or unwittingly practiced both bh and wh - you know the long-term joys of wh outweigh the temporary thrills of bh.

Essentially every choice made - by nature - is a tragic one. SEOchat made their choice. And as their reputation declines and bottom line decreases long-term, they will undoubtedly regret their thrill.
