Effect of homepage PR on SERP of internal pages

Potentially stupid question - please don't flame me..

Do the internal pages of a site achieve any SERP benefit from backlinks to the homepage of a site (and consequently, the increase in PR of the homepage)?

SERP benefits can come from internal site linking structure vs. from just the home page itself. If you have high PR internal pages that link together this can improve your SERPs and does offer benefits from the home page too if the linking structure is set up correctly. For most Internal pages to rank high at Google they also need in-bound links from external sites though. This is one of the reasons but not the only reason people say "content is king".

I have an interesting example to show you that the content isn't king at all. Search on google with this word "fotomodele" you'll see in 9th position a site (bookstudio dot ro) that is under construction.

This site doesn't contain any keyword. It has no content, no title, no body, no alt tags, no nothing. It happens that I know this site in this state for more than 2 years. Also I know that more than 20 directories have links to it.

So this is a perfect example that says - old site, good backlinks, a lot of clicks and that's all that you need. Who cares about content? At least google didn't.

Seems a bit ridiculous to me. Is this an example of Google bombing?

I think strong and authoritative backlinks are more likely to give you better SERPs than content alone but that doesn't mean good content with good internal linking to your pages that have good PR doesn't help your backlinks and SERPs. The original question asked about that.

If you use Google's links check function, you will find a lot of the backlinks they report are from a website's own internal pages. Ever wonder why?

I think the point is that Good content naturally creates backlinks. Of course you can get backlinks without content, biut good content makes its so much eeasier.
