Duplicate Information

I have a website and am starting a blog under the same domain name. If some of the artciles are duplicates from the blog and wesbite, does that husr the ranking at all?

I'm afraid duplicate content will hurt your rankings. It's best to get lots of unique content, it's a lot more work, but well worth the extra effort in the long term because you will benefit.

If you have regular website and a blog hosted under the same domain, why would you want to have 2 of the same page?

Doesn't make sense. Instead, link to the other page. Don't duplicate. That doesn't help your visitor. It'll just confuse them.

The reason for duplicate stuff is my old website is currently all in html and want to move it over to something new, wordpress or some php. All my old pages are indexed by google, so I don't want to lose that until I can get all the new pages indexed. I am not going to keep both pages.
