    Duplicate content on your site

Hi. Does anyone know if Google will punish you for putting duplicate content on your site? (i.e. text that appears elsewhere on the web)

To my knowledge Google will show both sites for a while and then often may decide to simply drop one of the pages with the duplicate content.

I've seen this happen in some instances when there is one website perhaps on www.url.com/directory for example that is its own site and there is another domain forwarding to it such as www.forwardeddomain.com. Google may initially see the same site but as two seperate domains, and ultimately may drop one of them from the listings.

Naturally some articles are posted on more than one site and I believe if there's enough differing content on the pages you should be okay. I have no hard experience here though either way.

I know that Google will punish you only if you have the exact
structure of a page that is allready indexed.
