Duplicate Content Penalization?

Say I have a homepage that shows 3 of the latest articles. Then theres a News page which shows all the articles, including those 3.

Will Google penalize for that duplication of content?

NO!

Don't be afraid of legit things.

Be afraid when you copy the text from another website.

Alright, thanks.

What if that text copied is a quote (like 2 sentences)?

If those two sentences are the only on the page = may be a problem.
If those two sentences are the only "copied" and there are other unique = no problem.

Google will penalize only if you use contents from other websites without their consent.

Duplicate content is not a penalty it is a filter. Google is just trying to present quality SERPs thereofre content as much as it can should be shown from the original source. It just chooses not to list the duplicate.

This filter has NOTHING to do with consent. Lack of consent and plagerism can bring stiff conseunces but this is not from googles algo.

i would agree with gazzakh here

the duplicate content filter is about stopping made for adsense article sites and similar from just having endless reprint articles in hundreds of sites.

the duplicate content filter is to give the best and most relevant results as is possible

consent is something google cant know anything about.

i could reprint war and peace and google wouldnt give a hoot it would just index it and compare to every other page that is indexed.
