I am creating text for a new website, where you can make an appointment for sales people in your local area for this service. It will use postcode matching from homepage taking them to a page for local area.

I have created homepage text for UK, though not sure what to do to personalise it at a local level, Kent, London, Essex. To date personalised top for each area. There are lots areas in the UK if you take all the counties. So could be many pages similar content. Guess might be penalised google so asking at this point.

Surrey might be:- Surrey, Surbiton, Richmond upon Thames, Kingston upon Thames, Twickenham, Teddington, Wimbledon.

If you look at UK you have South, Midlands, Wales and Scotland. Then different areas say in South Buckinghamshire.

Then text and main words changed to London is 500 words. Maybe can personalise it more with local customer reviews. Though whatever service is the same...

I can put local extention domain.com-essex-service.html, though even in anylitics open to ideas as trying to get this right from the start. Its not all duplicate content just personalised for local customers. Plus interlinks with postcode matching.

Example though I would have my own text on extention:- http://www.carpages.co.uk/london/ferrari-dealers.asp. These guys rate well though information is local.
